Hearing Benefits – From even before the time we retire, it seems that we become more and more aware of and more deeply interested in what Hearing Benefits are available to us under Medicare and Medicare Advantage Plans.

Original Medicare does not include extensive dental, vision, and Hearing Benefits insurance for seniors and Medicare beneficiaries. If you are looking for dental, vision, and Hearting Benefits insurance, you should consider a Medicare Advantage plan. Your Original Medicare only includes Part A, which is hospital coverage. Part B provides physician coverage, but Medicare Advantage plans, also called Part C, generally include dental benefits, vision benefits, Hearing Benefits, prescription drug coverage, and more much, much more.

Medicare Advantage Plans – What Costs and Hearing Benefits Will be Paid?

Medicare Advantage plans can add the following Hearing Benefits or insurance for seniors:

  • Treatments for hearing problems
  • Hearing aids
  • Hearing aid fittings
  • Hearing aid exams
  • Hearing tests

What is the Cost of Hearing Aids?

You should know that hearing aids under your Hearing can range anywhere from $400 to $4,000 per ear. The initial device’s cost isn’t too expensive, but you may still have to pay the costs of a hearing aid fitting, hearing aid exams, and replacement hearing aids every five years or so.

You could pay several thousands of dollars during your lifetime for your Hearing Benefits. This is why a Medicare Advantage plan may be a viable solution that may help you out financially and help you save a lot of money.

Hearing Aid Brands

After you learn that you will need hearing aids, when you choose the hearing aids, remember that details matter! It is good to know the following information:

  • Know your ear size
  • Make sure that your budget will work with what you choose
  • How will you be using the hearing aids?
  • Will you use the hearing aids all day long?
  • Can you afford to splurge a little on your hearing aids?

Be sure to check with your provider network before you do anything to know what costs they will cover under the Hearing Benefits on the exams, fittings, tests, and hearing aids.

Medicare plans will vary, and some don’t cover all brands of hearing aids under your Hearing Benefits. You will want to make sure you choose a Medicare Advantage Plan covering all brands or at least the brands you may be interested in purchasing. Your insurance company should be able to make suggestions regarding hearing aid brands they will cover.

Cochlear Implants

Your Hearing Benefits may cover cochlear implants, which may be a solution if your hearing aids do not help you understand sounds and speech.

Cochlear implants work differently than hearing aids. Hearing aids help many people with hearing loss by making sounds louder. However, cochlear implants can be a more practical option for those with more significant hearing loss, specifically, moderate to profound hearing loss in adults. For some people, using a hearing aid(s) with a severe to profound hearing loss can be like listening to a loud, poorly tuned radio. You may hear parts of what is being said, and it may be loud enough, but the words are not exact.

Wearing hearing aids first is a necessary step in the evaluation process for a cochlear implant. Your Hearing Benefits may cover Cochlear Implants, where some plans may not cover hearing aids.
